When I first saw this book, it was when we were leaving America. The librarian at my old school gave it to me as a going-away-present. I suppose I just went to the library a lot.
Anyway, I saved it for a while, but then I finally gave in and started reading it. I kept telling myself I would only read a little bit, but then I just couldn’t stop reading it! I guess it would be a mystery/ adventure story. After all, it’s called “The Mysterious Benedict Society”. Oh! Also there’s a second book and a third book, but I’m not sure if it’s a trilogy or a series.
The story starts like this: there’s an ad in the paper looking for “gifted children in search of special opportunities”, and loads of people come with their children in hopes they will be the ones to pass the tests. But only 4 extraordinary kids are able to pass the tests and receive the “special opportunities”, but the special opportunities aren’t what they think they are! But that’s all I’m going to tell you. If you want to know more, the best way would just be to read it.
This book was a very creative and interesting book. The characters were all interesting and deep, and the plot had lots of twists and puzzles, and many other things that I can't think of right now. I think the only thing I’m upset about is that I don’t have the second book! I recommend this book for children of almost any age, for there really are many special opportunities inside.
